Pretty warm coupled with moderating breezes. I moved both the main mob (first split SBW5a), and the bulls to last split in 3rd split in SBW2-2a. I found new patch of spurge just west of the reservoir in SBW5a. Black-headed Grosbeak heard singing in the Cottonwoods at the house. They rarely next her, yet we can hope.

Warmer, yet moderating NE wind. We moved cows to last split in paddock SBW5. This is the first paddock where important wetlands are present, including some actively nestling birds. We will not stay long.

Cloudy and moderate-heat predicted this weekend. The mob moved to a new split of about 20 acres-very relaxed. Natalie moved the bulls, and put out safeguard for the bulls and 2’s. First nighthawk heard at dusk.

Warming and humid. I moved the mob mid-day during an interview with Farm Bureau. Natalie returns from a useful workshop, and together we move the 2’s into last split in the lane. We found a big elk shed.

Pleasant. Natalie left yesterday for a stockmanship workshop with  Witt Hibbard at the Mannix Ranch. I moved all 3 groups to new splits-same paddocks. Ryan delivered cull (suckers) pairs to auction. Bullock’s Oriole is seriously singing now. Leopard frog has been singing nightly in the yard pond.

Warm but not uncomfortable. I moved 2’s and bulls. Last pairs in WL are now with main mob. I know a lot more happened today, but right now I cannot remember.

Wet and warming. The big mob broke out last night (broken wire) from the first split in SBW5. As I did not build a check fence, the correction required more effort than necessary. It was a good opportunity to tune up on our GMs protocol. Natalie and Wade cur 11 cows (7 pairs) out of the bull group for hopeful sale this week. 2’s moved to next split. Red-tailed hawk nest found back with the heifers in the trees. We remember today those who have helped ensure that our country can keep improving opportunities and equity for all people.

Cool and cloudy with light rain. I moved all groups. Big mob moved into SBW5. The other groups stayed in their current lanes.  Bats, poor wills, Woodhouse toads welcome the late evening.

Cool and fresh with more rain predicted the next 2 days. We moved cows into the next and last split in SBW6. A few pairs still remain back in NBW5. Natalie and I took advantage of the damp weather to study and dig out the scotch thistle path in SBW6 up in the rocks. A nice evening gathering to celebrate Jenna Wacker’s graduation that broke about every Covid-19 protocol. Hmm…
