Weather: Slow warming trend.

Weather: Cool and overcast with steady and drying NW winds.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(L7): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: Memorial Day to honor those who have served supporting wise and often not so wise leadership. Honoring their best intentions and commitment and final sacrifice. Incomprehensible loss.
Floated into first strip in L7. Some crested wheat has some signs of the ‘black bug’ that can suck the green color out of the leaves.

Weather: Overcast and cool, and an ever so slight evening shower turns into more.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(L1): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: Good run of new calves. No deaths for three days. Moving bulls in crested wheat I heard Vespers, Grasshoppers, Horned larks, and even a curlew fly over. Rob replaces pump at Lackey and tunes up Ryan on how to operate the system. Our best new partner. Big Wall Dragon resorts to squeezing the jewel releasing water from the sky.

Spring scented lilac
Is that not enough for now?

Weather: Cool with evening showers that total about ¼”.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(L1): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: Cows float into paddock north of Lackey buildings up along the wall. A pretty good tail of stragglers still in last paddock. Nice shot of rain holding off the growth slow down. CW grasses are showing some browning on the lower leaves. Not enough soil moisture to back fill the increasing transpiration. Late evening songs of Sora Rails and Woodhouse toads on north Willow.

Weather: Warm to much warmer throughout period
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(L2): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: I am gone to Colorado. Carlyle moves 2x each day. Three more calves die while I am gone-up to 32. Christian from Audubon is here for 3 days to monitor three bird survey sites. Nice to have a professional to take care of the proper paper work.

Weather: Warmer and drier patten builds
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(L2): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: Two moves and back onto crested wheat fields in Lackey. I thought we were maybe out of the ‘sickness’ yet three more calves die. I am on the road to a summit where I wide array of players with a strong intention will address how to save the grassland bioregion of North America-a vast biome on the verge of breaking. So grateful for the ranch team at home taking care of business.

Weather: Frosty mornings yet turning warmer.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(2): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: We leave EG and move into L. Carlyle works on Lackey fence and attends to cows while I collect 5 ewes at Lehfeldt’s for training Max. I also prepare to depart for Colorado and visit CNB cattle at feedlot.

Weather: Stormy weather punctuated by cold winds yet most of moisture falls to the west, and even good snows in the mountains.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(2): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: Only two splits and we finish out our first stay in EG. Blessedly no knew calves die.

Weather: Sharply colder and gusty unwelcome winds.
NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings
EG(2): Cows (416 includes some dries)
Entry: One split. One more calf dies. Toyota tie rod brakes again. To Circle to facilitate a CMRCWG meeting-about twice the moisture to the east.
