Weather: Lovely cow weather.
Where: Cows (254) in BW-9. Bulls (18) + 10 horses (always been mixed) in WG-2. Heifers (74) and Charter (61) heifers now all in LS-9. Cows get 29 acres. Heifers get 7. 6. I return late evening having visited with Logan Mannix on the way to check in on cull cow delivery, and Taylor Crowl at the MT Community Foundation. Dana has the garden mostly planted-remarkable steady daily effort.

Weather: Light showers all day adding up to .25 of moisture.

I head to Missoula for 3 days with TNC Board, and also some hang time with Natalie at the Oxbow. Weather: Cooler and cloudy.

Heifers stay put to apply more pressure on crested wheat at north end of LS-1. Bulls move to new split. Concerning density of Japanese brome in BW-9. Annual tiny Alyssum is mostly everywhere but mostly seeded out and drying. Dense islands of Death camas, wallflower, and senecio offer various shades of yellow across the prairie. First two nighthawks arrive at dusk amidst a background chorus of frogs, owls, kingbirds, and meadowlarks. Weather: Cool and damp morning. Then turning windy. Calm and clear at nightfall.

Fear of scour sickness with elevated milk scours has not been realized as of today. Fresh move for bulls. Ideal conditions for grass and cows. Violet Green Swallows working the cliffs of Big Wall. Weather: Cool, cloudy, with heavy shower (1.68) in early evening.

Hungarian elms are not leafing, Lilacs are mostly not blooming, and even greasewood has measurably died back-what caused this?? And seeing a few newly hatched hoppers. Yet, recent rains have brought a lovely green freshness to the country.

The rest of LS-1 is opened for Heifer group-may be enough grass to last through weekend. With rain and some milk scours showing up I felt it best to error toward more space. We will need to watch more closely the next few days for scours. New antelope twins seen in WG. Traveled to Lewistown to attend APR advisory. Weather: Warmer and mild.
