Weather: Much Colder yet staying calm
Corrals (NNG): Cows (294+15B) + 9 light calves
Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
Notes: Another sub-zero day comes and goes. Cows drifted farther south into the BLM and few actually found the hay yard. Not a good call on my party yesterday. Everything got put back into place and fed. The day ends cold, calm, clear and a golden warmth to it all at dusk.

Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
Notes: Another sub-zero day comes and goes. Hay day for the cows along with full feeding of straw (10 bales). Fence tore up over at Todd’s along BLM. Ryan jumps on it to ensure no cows drifts into the pines.

Weather: Subzero all day with early morning snow, yet little wind helped soften the bite.
Corrals (NNG): Cows (294+15B) + 9 light calves
Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
Notes: I opened new strip of straw and added 2 bales (10). One cow got hung up in bale feeder with front leg while rolling out bale. Pretty lame afterwards and will need to watch. Ryan keeping water open for at Todd’s. I wrestled with my mistake all day. We had our first interview with apprentice applicants.

Weather: North to NW winds pick up during the day with cows feeding and bunching up off and on all day.
Corrals (NNG): Cows (294+15B) + 9 light calves
Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
Notes: Kids leave early to tackle wintery road conditions. All return safely by early evening. Despite bitter discomfort for cows and people the cold warmth of winter light softens the hardness. Fed cows both straw and hay supplement.

Weather: Cold moving in.
Corrals (NNG): Cows (294+15B) + 9 light calves
Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
Notes: Moria and I haul 28 bales of straw west of corrals in preparation for cold snap. Time to trigger the beginning of one month of straw feeding. Ryan keeps water open over at Todd’s. Also watched our cows as Dan Hochmuth moved his cows through Todd’s pasture to head back home. Wonderful Christmas eve meal with all the kids and their families.

NBW3: Cows (294+15B).
Todd: 2’s and Opens (112)
SNG7: 2 lame bulls and 9 small calves
Notes: Felt good and engaged making 2 splits. Cow pies mostly flat and soft. Prep for move across the road to corrals and going to straw before deep cold arrives. Nice time working with Christian.
