Weather: Unexpected heavy snow sets in overnight and continues almost all day-up to 10” on the level.
Where: Cows (199) in L-10-9. 1st split. S: 0 + 0 + 0 (every other day) Bred 2’s (55) and 3’s (35) at Pfister’s. One move. S: 0 + 0 + 0 (light supp consumption) Calves (248) in LS-2. 17th split (no moves). Supp:1 bale grass hay, tubs, mineral and salt. Bulls (14) Bulls in Corrals Livestock Inventory change: Health: Heavy snow brings adjustments. NE wind push cows back into L-12 where I pick them up and place them onto fresh feed in L-9. A few cows (20+) drift clear into EG-3. Bulls allowed to drift back to corrals and placed on straw in the back pen-next move will be to Ryan’s. Pfister group finishes all the straw Tyler laid out two days ago and Ryan puts 6 more bales out in the afternoon. Tyler and I trail calves back to corrals at dusk with hay and straw laid out. Probably could have left calves until the next day as they were scattered and happily grazing. Lovely look at Short-eared Owl as I picked up the cows in L-12. Large flock (50 +) of Horned Larks also observed. A bit tired from following animals on foot through heavy snow for a good part of the day. Day ends with no mishaps and animals stable.
